Dr. Garland offers pro-bono workshops in computing and mathematics for K-12 students and educators (see pclic.org). He is a founder of Stage One Software, the developers of the Formula Forge add-in for Microsoft Excel.
Dr. Garland has more than fifty years experience using and teaching decomposition and abstraction as the basis for designing, implementing, and understanding software. He was Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at Dartmouth College and Principal Research Scientist in MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He also consulted and testified for numerous legal actions involving computer-related copyrights, patents, trade secrets, and contracts.
